Everything that glitters is not GOLD....so true here
Golden Frog si considered one of the
most toxic animals on Earth. A single specimen measuring
two inches (five centimeters) has
enough venom to kill ten to twenty grown men or enough to kill about 10,000 mice. Indigenous Emberá people of Colombia have used its powerful venom for centuries to tip their blowgun darts when hunting, hence the species' name.
Their diet includes flies, crickets, ants, termites, and beetles. The only natural predator of the golden poison dart frog is
Leimadophis epinephelus, a snake that has developed a resistance to the frog's poison.
These frogs have a average
size equal to a common paper pin and yet can kill 2 giant elephants with their poison. Their poison is alkaloid in nature and can be transferred via contact to different places. Many cats and dogs die via mere contact to a towel or leaf these species had contact with.
